After years of putting it off, I've decided to start a blog.
For several years, whilst I was off in the wilderness of Eastern Europe working with the Roma, I wrote semi-regular newsletters to keep people informed about what I was doing and to drum up support for my volunteer activities. I'm sure lots of people remember pictures such as this:
And perhaps this:
I'll probably dig out a couple of my most popular old newsletters, for nostalgia's sake (, and for everyone to have a good laugh at - for some reason, I'm always slightly appalled at my writing from years ago.
But why this blog, and why now?
When I went to grad school in the fall of 2007, I stopped sending out my missives, and I've found it difficult to keep in touch with old and new friends alike, having moved from Budapest to Boston to Washington, DC in 3 short years. So, this blog is an attempt to reconnect with my online community, restart my sharing of my thoughts, ideas, and observations, and generate conversations, debates, and ideas while I pursue my own million-, billion-, or trillion-dollar, world-changing idea.
A hearty welcome to everyone, especially folks I haven't heard from in a while - I hope you enjoy your stay, and I hope to hear from you more often now!
