Congressional Republicans Give the Finger to the Environment, Just Because They Can

Now, I am all for ending "green" programs that actually make little economic and environmental sense, such as the ill-advised Congressional composting program that Republicans are ending.

But Congressional Republicans are now bringing disposable Styrofoam cups back to the Capitol cafeteria, after Democrats got rid of them 4 years ago because they are terrible for the environment. There is, of course, no rational reason for this, other than to give a big "F-U" to the environment and environmentally-minded citizens, since the Republicans could use biodegradable, insulated paper cups just as easily as Styrofoam.

Oh, and the Republicans aren't doing this to save money, even though that's what they say - it's estimated that the Republicans' un-greening the Capitol initiative will cost $50 million over the next 10 years, because being efficient saves money - shocker. So, yes, the Republicans are really just doing it to give a big "F-U" finger to Democrats, environmentalists, and the environment.

Your tax dollars at work, ladies and gentlemen.
