Rising Seas Would Submerge Parts of D.C., Much of Other U.S. Coastal Cities

A new paper by University of Arizona scientists shows that about 12.5% of D.C. could be submerged if the sea level rises 6 meters between now and 2010. Here's a map of the potential devastation (which includes my apartment, unfortunately):

Not cool - though I can take Schadenfreude in the fact that it would be way worse for New Orleans, Virginia Beach, Miami, Tampa, and New York.

Check out a slideshow of the top 20 cities most at risk from a rise in sea levels and read more about the paper over at Climate Central.
